Expanded Crossroads Cafe and menu for Southeast on track for Fall term
Site work continues on the southwest side of Mt. Tabor Hall to expand Southeast Center‘s food service operations – known as the Crossroads Cafe. This week plumbers and electricians are finishing the work they need to do before contractors with O’Neill Electric pour the foundation on April 29. Once the concrete slab is poured and cured, the crew will move into framing the space.
In late July, PCC will shut down food service operations at Southeast so contractors can connect the kitchen addition with existing operations within Mt. Tabor and finish the renovations. As of this spring, crews are on schedule to complete construction by early September, when Food Service staff will move into their new expanded kitchen and get ready for Fall term (2013). With an expanded kitchen, Food Service is planning to expand their menu offerings at the Cafe. When Crossroads Cafe opens for fall term, they will have a new grill for hamburgers, fries and hot sandwiches, a pizza-by-the-slice station and a wok station, as well as smoothies and coffee drinks.
The expansion will nearly double the size of the existing kitchen and servery, adding 3300 sf to an exsiting 4080 sf area. Once the addition is completed, the kitchen and servery will be more than 7300 square feet – and ready to serve a growing student body and staff at Southeast. The Great Hall in Mt. Tabor will continue to serve as the main dining area.
