Portland Community College and Humboldt Neighborhood Association are co-hosting a National Night Out celebration at Cascade Campus from 4 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 6. There will be live music and dancing with Melao de Cuba, The Suspects and Conroy Debrie, as well as local food vendors, face-painting, balloon twisting, fire engines, Zumba dancing and martial arts performances and fun for the whole family!
This community event promotes the goals of National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, which began in 1984 as an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
In addition to promoting National Night Out, the event will highlight bond-funding campus improvements at Cascade Campus. These improvements include a new student center, new academic building and an expanded and remodeled campus library — all of which will expand educational opportunities district wide and increase access to higher education for people living in North and NE Portland. Event participants will have an opportunity to sign a large metal construction beam slated for the new Student Center building – making their “mark” on the growing campus.
Please plan on joining us for a fun-filled night of food, entertainment, music and community building!
